Penelope’s Hydrangeas Bouquet

Bold. Iconic. Unapologetically us.

Penelope’s Flowers has always been about hydrangeas. From the very beginning, they were the flowers that set us apart.

While most florists relied on cheap foliage as filler, we chose to do the opposite. We took one of the most demanding and temperamental flowers in the industry and made it the centrepiece. Instead of using filler to bulk out a bouquet, we built the bouquet around the flower itself.

That decision shaped everything that followed.

Hydrangeas are not easy. They are sensitive to heat, light, and temperature change, and they demand proper handling. Over the years, working with them pushed us harder than any other flower. But that challenge forced us to refine our sourcing, our processes, and our standards.

This journey took us across the world in search of the right farms. We eventually partnered with a specialist grower in Ecuador, working closely with them to develop hydrangeas suited specifically to our bouquets and the way we prepare and send them. The result is a stronger, better-performing bloom that opens beautifully and fills a bouquet with real impact.

Our coloured hydrangeas are power-sprayed to maintain a consistent finish and depth of colour, giving the bouquet its signature bold, polished look.

Penelope’s Hydrangeas is a statement bouquet. Full, dramatic, and instantly recognisable. When cared for properly, hydrangeas reward attention with impressive presence and longevity.

They do require care. Keep them away from heat sources, direct sunlight, draughts, and sudden temperature changes, and handle them gently. Treated well, they remain striking and full for far longer than most people expect.

This bouquet is the reason Penelope’s exists as it does today. It is the design that shaped our sourcing, our systems, and our reputation.

How We Operate

We source flowers directly from farms, not auctions, giving us full control from cutting to delivery. Every stem is quality-checked at the farm, again on arrival, and conditioned through our own multi-stage process before being dispatched.

We work at volume, specialise in a defined range of premium stems, and never hold ageing stock. To maintain consistency, we retain stems from each batch in controlled conditions so we can accurately monitor performance over time.

This approach allows us to deliver consistent quality, freshness, and flowers that perform exactly as they should.

Images are for illustrative purposes only. Bouquet composition may vary due to seasonal availability and natural variation in flowers. Full stem counts and specifications are detailed on the Stem Count page, linked at the bottom of this page

Courier delays are unfortunately unavoidable, just as they are with any company that relies on third-party delivery networks. While our delivery success rate is approximately 99.6%, there can occasionally be disruptions within the courier network, particularly with Saturday deliveries, which operate on a more limited service. For this reason, customers should be aware that if a parcel is not delivered on Saturday, it will usually be automatically delivered on the next working delivery day, which is Monday. Where possible, we recommend selecting Friday delivery rather than Saturday. This provides one recovery day within the courier network should there be any operational delay. Orders destined for Scotland are sent using a two-day delivery service, and therefore these parcels are dispatched in advance for Friday delivery to ensure they arrive within the correct timeframe. All of our bouquets are prepared and packaged specifically for courier transport. Our packaging and hydration systems are designed so that bouquets are capable of remaining in transit for up to three days while maintaining quality. Upon arrival, the recipient should follow the care instructions provided with the bouquet to allow the flowers to fully hydrate and open.
