1:1 AND 2:1 IN PERSON FLORISTRY TRAINING
WITH THE OWNER AND FOUNDER OF PENELOPE’S FLOWERS IN BLACKPOOL

This course is suitable for complete beginners, existing florists who want to improve, and anyone looking to start making money from flowers.

You do not need any previous floristry experience. During the day, you will be shown how to create our most popular bouquet and arrangement designs, how to prepare and care for flowers, how to price your work correctly, and how to start building floristry around your own life.

Floristry can work around children, school runs, work, family commitments and other responsibilities. You can start small, take on orders when you are ready, and build at your own pace. Some people use floristry as a side income. Others use it as the start of a full business.

Our training is built to give you the practical skills, supplier access and confidence needed to start.

WHAT SETS PENELOPES ACADEMY APART

After training over 300 people, we noticed the same problem again and again. New florists could learn the designs, but struggled to access good wholesale flowers afterwards.

Many wholesalers either do not accept new florists or require high minimum orders, which makes it difficult when you are just starting out and only taking a few orders at a time.

Because of this, we created Penelope’s Trade, a purpose built wholesaler designed around what you are taught in our academy. We have teamed up with a large wholesaler, which gives us access to the range, supply chain and stock needed to support our students properly after training.

After your course, you will be given access to Penelope’s Trade, subject to account setup and separate trade terms.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

During your training day, we cover the main areas you need to understand when starting or improving your floristry skills.

You will learn how to condition and care for wholesale flowers, including cutting stems, removing foliage, hydrating flowers correctly, preparing buckets and storing flowers in suitable conditions.

You will then move into bouquet construction, starting with smaller hand tied bouquets before progressing onto larger luxury designs. This includes flower placement, shape, balance, structure, wrapping and presentation.

You will also create a large luxury bouquet with our skirt wrapping method, a 25 stem rose bouquet, a luxury hatbox arrangement and a basic funeral letter tribute using traditional ribbon and chrysanthemum techniques.

Alongside the practical work, we cover sourcing flowers, choosing stock, ordering quantities, reducing waste, pricing bouquets, understanding profit, taking customer orders, managing expectations, social media, product photography and basic marketing.

OPTIONAL BUSINESS COURSE

After training, you can also request access to our optional business course.

This is designed for students who want extra support setting up or growing a floristry business. It can cover areas such as business setup, websites, insurance, registering your business, money management, marketing, advertising, social media, business growth and attracting your ideal customer base.

This is optional and separate from the practical floristry training.

WHAT YOU CREATE ON THE DAY

During the course, you will create a selection of our most popular and profitable designs.

This includes practice bouquets based on our £35 and £59.99 sizes, our best selling £149.99 princess style bouquet with skirt wrapping, a 25 stem rose bouquet, a luxury hatbox arrangement and a traditional funeral flower letter.

You take everything you make home with you, which gives you ready made content, portfolio photos and examples of the type of work you can start offering.

WHAT IS INLCUDED

Your course includes private in person training, all flowers, tools and materials used on the day, pricing guidance, wholesale guidance, social media advice, a certificate of completion, access to Penelope’s Trade and access to our wholesale WhatsApp.

Eligible students may be offered access to business to business trade credit through Penelope’s Trade, subject to approval, account status and separate trade terms.

WHO THE COURSE IS FOR

This course is ideal for anyone who wants to become a florist, earn extra money from home, start a flexible business, improve their existing floristry skills, or learn something creative that can be turned into paid work.

It is also suitable for people who need something that can work around children, work, school hours or other commitments.

1:1 Training: £950

2:1 Training: £750 per person

Advance Partial Payment: £100 to reserve your space

The remaining balance is payable in accordance with our One-to-One Terms and Conditions. We may invoice the balance before the course date, and any invoice must be paid within the stated payment period.

Please make sure you have enough space in your car or transport to take your bouquets and arrangements home with you.
